Casa de Vilacetinho is a historic producer—one of the first in the region to bottle wine.

The history of Casa de Vilacetinho dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was part of the Benedictine Monastery of Alpendurada. It was established in the 18th century. Casa de Vilacetinho’s terroir is characterized by granitic soils, Atlantic influence, a pronounced seasonal temperature range (above 30°C in summer and between 2 and 8°C in winter), and rich surrounding fauna.

The vineyard covers approximately 30 hectares, extending in a continuous and orderly fashion along the hillside, with a predominantly south-facing exposure. It uses the single cordon vine-training system. While we have planted other classic grape varieties from the Vinhos Verdes region, we are undeniably a house specialized in Avesso. The Casa de Vilacetinho terroir is the ideal home for the Avesso grape, and, as a result, we have been able to craft wines with a distinct profile, taking advantage of the variety’s characteristics.

The walking tour of Casa de Vilacetinho is a true escape from the daily grind. The route begins at the winery and visitor center (where wines can be tasted, enjoyed, and purchased) and winds around the perimeter of the estate, offering panoramic views of the Douro Valley. The trail is 2.7 km long, rated "easy,” and takes an average of 45 minutes to complete. Although the slopes are gentle, we recommend wearing practical and comfortable shoes. All visitors are given a free map.

This is the  perfect way to enjoy nature and wine in an unmatched setting amid a  peaceful atmosphere.
